Operational sequence

Prepare the character and compare the payout

  1. 01Step 1

Choose a veteran and prepare a replacement

Choose a level-100 candidate whose current role another Responder can cover. As a roster-planning suggestion, keep your only reliable team build available until its replacement is ready; retirement exchanges that character for longer-term rewards.

  2. 02Step 2

    Record the character’s actual history

Read the character level, medal counts and number of Expert skills. For the Beacon bonus, check whether this Responder has ever consumed a Rescue Beacon. Simply unequipping a Beacon is not the condition shown in the preview.

    Official notesS2
  3. 03Step 3

Compare one more run with the payout at risk

The preview grants 2 XP per level above 100 and 10 XP per Expert skill. Compare those increments with the whole retirement payout you could lose if the Responder dies. Do not remove protection solely to chase the 250-XP no-Beacon bonus; survival has to come first.

  4. 04Step 4

Check the reward screen when 1.2 releases

Open the retirement option and compare the displayed XP with the next Service reward. Recheck the final confirmation, roster and reward details before committing. The calculator models the October 15 preview; the released game’s confirmation should decide your actual choice.

Brief 01

A worked example: 540 preview Service XP

A level-100 Responder who has never consumed a Beacon, holds one bronze medal and has three Expert skills totals 540 Service XP: 250 for level + 250 for the Beacon condition + 10 for the medal + 30 for skills. With the same profile after consuming a Beacon, the estimate becomes 290. These are calculated examples, not gameplay test results.

Brief 02

What the first Service rewards actually unlock

The official reward screenshot shows rank 1 unlocking an additional loadout slot, rank 2 Romero’s Glasses, rank 3 the Doctor! skill and rank 4 the Capybara Touch Grass cosmetic logo. Doctor! previews self-healing equal to 33% of healing applied to another player. The slot expands loadout options; it does not establish a larger backpack weight limit.

Brief 03

Keep match XP and retirement XP separate

Final extraction converts the team’s Supplies into character XP and Credits. Retirement is a separate exchange: the character leaves the roster and contributes Service XP. Early extraction preserves a threatened Responder but gives no character progression. For a near-100 candidate, choose between levelling through final extraction and preserving the character when the run is failing.
